Work requiring permission

If a customer enquires about work that does require permission, here is the information you can provide: 

Alterations or Improvements: Any alterations or improvements not listed in the “No Permission Required” section will need an Alteration & Improvement application submitted for approval. 

Contract Holder Responsibility: 

  • Enquiring and securing competent tradespeople or contractors to complete the work. 
  • Covering all associated costs. 

Planning Permission and Building Regulations: The Contract Holder is also responsible for ensuring that any Planning Permission or Building Regulation Approvals required for the work are obtained before the work begins. 

Examples of Prohibited work: If a contract holder asks about what types of work are not allowed, here are some examples of prohibited alterations: 

  • Any structural alterations: Alterations of any kind including loft conversions, roof modifications, extensions, removing internal walls 
  • Satellite Dish Installation: Fixing a satellite dish to a high-rise block or sheltered housing complex. 
  • Garage Alterations: Converting or altering garages is prohibited. 
  • Communal Area Decoration: Decorating communal areas in flats or complexes is not permitted. 
  • Pigeon Lofts and Aviaries: Erecting pigeon lofts, aviaries, or similar structures is not allowed.
