What rights do individuals have?

Under data protection law, individuals have rights we need to make them aware of. The rights available will depend on our reason for processing their information.

  • Right of Access – Individuals have the right to ask us for copies of their personal information. This right always applies. There are some exemptions, which means they may not always receive all the information we process. You can read more about this right here.
  • Right to Rectification – Individuals have the right to ask us to rectify information they think is inaccurate. They also have the right to ask us to complete information they think is incomplete. This right always applies. You can read more about this right here.
  • Right to Erasure – Individuals have the right to ask us to erase their personal information in certain circumstances. You can read more about this right here.
  • Right to restriction of processing – Data subjects have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of their information in certain circumstances. You can read more about this right here.
  • Right to Object to Processing – Individuals have the right to object to processing if we process their information because it forms part of our public tasks or is in our legitimate interests. You can read more about this right here.
  • Right to Data Portability – This only applies to information data subjects have given us. They have the right to ask that we transfer the information they gave us from one organisation to another or give it to them. The right only applies if we are processing information based on their consent or under, or in talks about entering into a contract and the processing is automated. You can read more about this right here. If we are processing their information for criminal law enforcement purposes, rights are slightly different.
  • Right to be Informed – Individuals must be told what information we hold on them. We do this by producing Privacy Statements (sometimes called Privacy Notices) and displaying them where the individual can access them. You can find ours here: Privacy Policy – BronAfon
