What is Radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas, produced by rocks found  deep in the ground, and is a by-product of the decay of uranium. It can seep up through the soil and find its way into the atmosphere and can accumulate within buildings (especially if there is poor ventilation).

You cannot see nor smell radon, but if there is a high level of radon in your home then it could affect your health.

Some parts of the UK are more highly affected than others and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is the government body that is responsible for tracking which areas are at risk across the UK (displayed through their UK Radon Map).  Following a desktop assessment, UKHSA informed us that some of our homes could be affected by radon. The risk is small, however, it’s important that we make sure that levels of radon inside of your home are at a safe level.
