What is a Subject Access Request?

Individuals have the right to access and receive a copy of their personal data, and other supplementary information. This is commonly referred to as a subject access request or ‘SAR’. Subject access requests or ‘SARs’ are an extremely important right under the UK GDPR, allowing individuals the right to ask a company if they are using their personal information and how the data is being processed. It enables the data subject to verify the lawfulness and accuracy of the data and assess whether the processing aligns with the purposes for which it was originally collected.
