How to send information to a non-English speaking customer

A translation can be arranged through the Wales Interpretation & Translation Service (WITS) on 02920 537555 or email WITS@cardiff.gov.uk.

You will need to send the following information:

  1. The information you want translated with the language(s) required
  2. Word count
  3. Deadline – you need to give sufficient time as each translation will vary. The rule of thumb is a page per day. However, some documents can be translated quicker, i.e. to translate a page of an appointment letter would be quicker than translating a page of a legal court document.
  4. Deliverables – you will receive the translation by email. If you need a particular file format, please specify (i.e. word, pdf).
  5. Your contact details and invoicing details.

Do not forget to provide a purchase order number (quote CAR020. This will help Finance to get the invoice to the right team for payment.

Fees are charged at £70 per 1000 English words, (minimum fee £50 for documents of less than 1000 words) in a single language.
