Climate emergency – what is Bron Afon doing?

There are some specific and rather tough targets that we have to achieve for our homes, to support Welsh Government to meet its net zero carbon target by 2050. To this end, our colleagues in the Assets, Investment and Compliance team are working to improve energy consumption of our existing stock, while colleagues in Development and Regenerations are exploring approach to build  more energy efficient assets, and trailing innovative ideas to increase sustainability of development projects.

We will be exploring ways to encourage, support and enable our customers and our communities to take actions to tackle climate emergency, this will be both through of our day-to-day services in the communities and through partnership and collaborations with others agencies.

For example, Bron Afon is part of the Carbon Literacy Cartrefi Cymru, which is a consortium of Welsh registered social landlords. Working with others on the consortium, we will be providing our staff and our communities with fact and greater understanding of the carbon dioxide impacts on everyday life. This is part of Carbon Literacy project in Wales.  I will give a bit more info about this soon, and there will be opportunities for you to take part.

Tackling climate change is needed to achieve sustainability. However, the emergency nature of this issue needs us to take actions we can do now… Let’s lower the heat!
