Blocks – Cleaning

Block cleaning service overview – the service is a basic cleaning service. Deterioration of corridors etc., the marking of painted surfaces (often mat paint which stains easily) are not “cleanable”.

  • The team provide a basic calendar-monthly block cleaning service. Common parts of blocks and retirement schemes will be inspected (cleaning standards) and cleaned at least once per month. Average visit ranges from 10 – 30 minutes.
  • The service involves sweeping and cleaning by cloth or mop to give some idea of the ability to tackle difficult stains etc.
  • This is chargeable to leaseholders and some tenants. It is important to note that although it shows as a line in the annual rent increase letters this is not an additional charge (same as the grounds maintenance charge) it is simply a separate figure that would have normally get rolled together into the total rent and not shown. Finance colleagues can explain it better if needs be.
  • The monthly cleaning service does not incorporate ground-in permanent marks, cigarette burns and the like. Paint surfaces and general wear and tear can contribute to a “shabby” appearance as this is not an issue that can be resolved by cleaning. The service does include sweeping and cleaning by cloth or mop to give some idea of the ability to tackle difficult stains etc.
